Kenya has received the first fuel cargo destined for Rwanda through the Port of Mombasa, marking a significant milestone in regional trade and energy transportation.
The maiden shipment arrived at the Port of Mombasa and is expected to strengthen fuel supply chains between Kenya and Rwanda while enhancing the role of the Northern Corridor as a key trade route in East Africa. Officials said the development demonstrates growing cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
Speaking during the reception of the cargo, government and industry representatives noted that the shipment will help improve fuel availability in Rwanda and support economic activities that depend on reliable energy supplies. They added that the Port of Mombasa continues to serve as a strategic gateway for imports and exports within the region.
The arrival of the fuel cargo is expected to boost regional integration and reinforce Kenya’s position as a leading logistics and transportation hub for East African countries. Stakeholders expressed optimism that more fuel shipments for Rwanda and other neighbouring states will pass through Mombasa in the future.
